Manchester City Eyeing Brazilian Winger Sávio for Potential Transfer

Manchester City have reportedly shown interest in signing 19-year-old Brazilian winger Sávio, according to a source familiar with the situation. While City has not confirmed any agreement for Sávio, talks have indeed taken place regarding a potential transfer deal.

Sávio, currently on loan at Girona from Ligue 2 side Troyes, has showcased his talent by scoring seven goals in 25 games for the Spanish club this season. Both Troyes and Girona are part of the City Football Group (CFG), which is overseen by Manchester City, creating a close relationship between the clubs. Girona currently sits in second place in LaLiga, just two points behind leaders Real Madrid.

The young winger Sávio made a move to Troyes from Brazilian side Atletico Mineiro in a noteworthy €6.5m ($6.9m) deal in 2022. Prior to his loan spell at Girona, he had a brief stint at PSV Eindhoven. Despite having a star-studded frontline featuring the likes of Erling Haaland, Julián Álvarez, Jack Grealish, Phil Foden, Jérémy Doku, and Oscar Bobb, Pep Guardiola seems keen on adding Sávio to his squad.

In addition to their pursuit of Sávio, Manchester City recently announced a deal for 18-year-old Argentinian forward Claudio Echeverri in January. Echeverri is expected to remain on loan at River Plate until January 2025. The club seems to be making strides in finalizing a deal for Sávio, with hopes of having the youngster join their preseason camp and potentially secure a permanent move to the Premier League champions in the future.

Manchester City’s interest in acquiring the promising Brazilian winger Sávio demonstrates their commitment to nurturing young talent and strengthening their squad for future challenges. With talks underway and progress being made, it will be intriguing to see if a deal materializes and how Sávio fits into the already talented City lineup.
