Barcelona Hopes to Re-Sign João Félix and João Cancelo

Barcelona recently released a statement bidding farewell to João Félix and João Cancelo as their contracts with the club came to an end. However, the club later deleted the statement from all social media platforms. A source informed ESPN that Barcelona hopes to re-sign both players and felt that the initial statement closed the door prematurely on their potential return.

The reason behind Barcelona’s hesitation in confirming new contracts or signings is due to the club’s current financial situation. Barcelona is struggling to comply with LaLiga’s spending limit and needs to raise funds through player transfers, wage reductions, or new revenue streams before making any new additions to the squad.

Despite the financial challenges, Barcelona sees João Félix and João Cancelo as priority targets following the appointment of new coach Hansi Flick. The club is considering bringing back both players on another loan deal, but the final terms will depend on negotiations with Atlético Madrid and Manchester City.

Marcos Alonso, whose contract with Barcelona has expired, is set to leave the club after two years. Barcelona has not mentioned the future of club captain Sergi Roberto, whose contract also expired recently. Talks are ongoing regarding a new deal for Roberto, but Barcelona cannot guarantee that it will be approved by LaLiga.

Barcelona’s decision to retract the farewell statement for João Félix and João Cancelo signifies their desire to retain the talented duo. However, the club faces financial constraints that need to be addressed before any official signings or contract extensions can be confirmed. The coming weeks will be crucial in determining the future of these players and the overall direction of Barcelona’s squad for the upcoming season.
