EA Sports has introduced their highly anticipated FC 24 Ultimate Team of the Season, highlighting the standout performers from various leagues worldwide. This year, the traditional “best XI” format has been replaced with a new approach. The Ultimate Team of the Season now incorporates data from Opta to construct a more comprehensive list of the top players in the 2023-24 season. This revamped format consists of three distinct lists: one for the top players in men’s leagues, another for women’s leagues, and a third for mixed leagues featuring players who excel outside the top tiers.
One of the striking aspects of the FC 24 Ultimate Team of the Season is the balanced distribution of players across Europe’s major leagues. Notably, the English Premier League, LaLiga, and the Bundesliga all boast five players each in the TOTS, underscoring the competitive nature of these leagues. Serie A from Italy follows closely with three players, while Ligue 1 in France has just two representatives. This shift in balance reflects the diverse talent pool present across different leagues.
Real Madrid leads the pack in terms of club representation on the men’s TOTS list, with three of their players making the cut – Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Jr, and Federico Valverde. Other prominent clubs such as Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen, Liverpool, and AC Milan all have two players each on the list. Notably, the Men’s Mixed Leagues category features star players from unconventional leagues such as the Saudi Pro League, MLS, and the Portuguese top flight, showcasing the global reach of talent in football.
In contrast to the men’s list, the women’s Ultimate Team of the Season displays a remarkable diversity in club representation. Despite Barcelona’s dominant performance in the 2023-24 season, only Aitana Bonmati makes the cut from the Catalan side. The eight players included in the women’s TOTS hail from eight different clubs, ensuring a fair distribution of accolades. From Chelsea to Bayern Munich, the women’s TOTS celebrates excellence across various teams.
Fans of footballing icons Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo can rejoice as both players secure a spot in the 2024 edition of the Team of the Season. Despite currently playing in unconventional leagues, Messi and Ronaldo’s exceptional performances have earned them a place in the “Mixed Leagues” category. Their inclusion serves as a testament to their enduring talent and impact on the game, transcending boundaries of traditional football leagues.
The 2023-24 Team of the Season also highlights the breakthrough of new talent and lesser-known players. Bayer Leverkusen, fresh off their Bundesliga title win, sees two of their key players, Jeremie Frimpong and Alex Grimaldo, included in the TOTS for the first time. Similarly, young talents like Nico Schlotterbeck from Borussia Dortmund and Sávio from Girona receive their inaugural TOTS nods, signaling the growth and evolution of football’s next generation of stars.
Overall, the FC 24 Ultimate Team of the Season encapsulates the essence of football excellence across genders, leagues, and experience levels. With a blend of established legends and rising talents, this year’s TOTS honors the diverse and dynamic nature of the beautiful game. Each player selected has contributed significantly to their respective teams, embodying the spirit of competition and sportsmanship that defines the global football community.
