The Future Plans of Hirving “Chucky” Lozano

Hirving “Chucky” Lozano, the Mexico international and PSV Eindhoven winger, has expressed his preference for returning to Liga MX if given the choice between the Mexican top flight and Major League Soccer. Despite rumored interest from MLS expansion team San Diego FC, Lozano has made it clear that he would lean towards a move back to Mexico. However, his ultimate desire is to continue playing in Europe.

In an interview with ESPN Netherlands, Lozano stated that his ideal scenario would involve an extended stay in Europe. At 28 years old, he articulated his hope to remain on the continent for the foreseeable future. He emphasized his fondness for Eindhoven, expressing his satisfaction with the city, its people, and the treatment he receives from the club.

Having signed a five-year contract extension with PSV Eindhoven last summer, Lozano enjoyed success with the Dutch team by winning the 2023-24 Eredivisie title. However, his individual performance during that season was less prolific, with only six goals and three assists in 23 Eredivisie appearances. His output decreased further in 2024, registering just one goal and one assist since the start of the year.

Despite his aspirations to continue his career in Europe, Lozano acknowledged that his boyhood club, Pachuca, holds a special place in his heart. He credited the club for providing him with opportunities in the first division and expressed gratitude for the role it played in his development. If a return to Liga MX were to materialize in the future, Lozano indicated that Pachuca would be his preferred destination.

As the talented winger navigates his options and considers his future, spectators and fans alike will be eager to see where his career trajectory takes him. Whether he remains in Europe, ventures back to Liga MX, or explores new opportunities, one thing is certain – Hirving “Chucky” Lozano’s journey is one that will be closely followed by football enthusiasts around the world.
