While Erik ten Hag’s future as manager remains uncertain, sources have revealed that Manchester United has already evaluated other potential candidates, including England manager Gareth Southgate, Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi, and Brentford’s Thomas Frank. O’Neil has been highlighted as a possible successor due to his successful stints at Wolves and previously with Bournemouth in the Premier League.
Reports suggest that United have expressed their interest in O’Neil, with senior figures from the club eager to discuss his intentions. Gary O’Neil, a former player for Middlesbrough, Portsmouth, and West Ham United, transitioned into coaching after signing a three-year contract with Wolves last summer. He started his coaching career with Liverpool U-18s, where he was hired by Michael Edwards, who is now the sporting director at Liverpool. O’Neil and Edwards had previously worked together during Portsmouth’s time in the Premier League.
