Manchester United Stand Firm on Marcus Rashford Amid Transfer Speculations

Manchester United are standing firm on their stance regarding Marcus Rashford amid transfer speculations. According to a source, the club is not expecting any offers for the England striker this summer. United’s financial situation would allow them to consider bids exceeding £70 million for Rashford, but it is believed that no team will meet that valuation. Despite this, the club is not actively looking to offload the player, as reported by ESPN.

There is a feeling at Old Trafford that only Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) could potentially meet United’s fee demands and match Rashford’s wage requirements. PSG has shown interest in Rashford before, but they are not prioritizing him to replace Kylian Mbappé, who is expected to join Real Madrid at the end of the season. Rashford’s lackluster performance this season, with just eight goals in all competitions, has not deterred United from holding out for reasonable bids instead of accepting cut-price offers.

Should Rashford depart, it would benefit United financially, considering he is an academy graduate. The transfer fee would count as pure profit on the books, assisting the club in adhering to profit and sustainability rules. While United does have funds available for transfers this summer, sources have described the financial situation as “tight.” Another academy graduate, Mason Greenwood, is also expected to leave, with the club seeking a permanent deal for the 22-year-old. Despite Greenwood’s success on loan at Getafe, it is unlikely that the Spanish club will be able to finance a permanent transfer within the desired range of £30-40 million.

United has made it clear that they will not accept significantly lower fees for either Rashford or Greenwood. If the club’s demands are not met, Greenwood could potentially return to Old Trafford. His absence from the team since January 2022, following his arrest amid allegations involving pictures and audio recordings posted online, has left his future uncertain. United’s strategy for the upcoming transfer window seems to revolve around maintaining key players like Rashford while also ensuring that any outgoings result in favorable financial outcomes for the club.
