Manchester United Secures Deal for Joshua Zirkzee

Manchester United has successfully agreed upon a fee with Bologna for the acquisition of striker Joshua Zirkzee. The deal, valued at more than the initially set €40 million release clause, allows the club to pay the fee over an extended period. By opting for this arrangement, United avoided the need for an upfront payment and instead agreed to a “modest premium” for the flexibility of a longer payment term.

Zirkzee, who was a coveted target for AC Milan as well, has already finalized personal terms with United and is set to sign a five-year contract after completing a medical examination. The 23-year-old showcased his scoring prowess by netting 12 goals for Bologna last season, making him an exciting addition to the Old Trafford squad as the first signing of the summer.

In addition to securing Zirkzee, Manchester United has made adjustments to its backroom staff. The club has officially announced the signings of Ruud van Nistelrooy and Rene Hake as part of Erik ten Hag’s coaching team, with both individuals agreeing to two-year contracts. Steve McClaren and Darren Fletcher will continue their roles as first-team coaches, while Mitchell van der Gaag and Benni McCarthy have departed the club.

New Additions to Coaching Staff

Expressing his enthusiasm for the latest additions to the coaching staff, Erik ten Hag emphasized the wealth of experience, knowledge, and energy that Ruud van Nistelrooy and Rene Hake bring to the team. Their presence is expected to further enhance the collaborative efforts within the coaching setup and contribute positively to the development of the players under their guidance.

While the initial fee for the deal involving Joshua Zirkzee stands at €500k, sources have indicated that it could potentially escalate to an amount of €9.1m through the inclusion of add-ons. This aspect adds a layer of performance-based incentives to the agreement, highlighting the club’s commitment to rewarding success and achievements on the field.
