Germany’s Euro 2024 Squad Update and Forward Partnership Speculation

Germany has been hit with disappointing news as midfielder Aleksandar Pavlovic has been ruled out of Euro 2024 due to a renewed bout of tonsillitis. Pavlovic, who had to withdraw from Germany’s friendlies against France and Netherlands in March, was set to make his mark on the national team after an impressive season with Bayern Munich. This setback means that he will be replaced in the squad by Emre Can, the Borussia Dortmund captain.

Emre Can’s addition to the German national team comes as a result of the need for another No.6 in the squad. Can, who has been capped 43 times by Germany and played a key role in Dortmund’s Champions League campaign, is expected to bring experience and composure to the team. Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann expressed his satisfaction with Can’s inclusion, stating that he fulfills the profile needed for the squad.

As Germany prepares for their Euro 2024 campaign, forwards Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala are expected to lead the attack for the hosts. The duo has shown promising signs of a blossoming partnership in recent friendlies, with Wirtz even mentioning the possibility of playing together at a club level in the future. Wirtz, who had an outstanding season with Leverkusen, expressed his happiness at the prospect of partnering up with Musiala.

Despite the speculation about a potential partnership at club level, Wirtz clarified that he is currently content at Leverkusen while Musiala is already playing for Bayern Munich. When asked about the possibility of joining Bayern or Real Madrid to play alongside Musiala, Wirtz remained focused on his current club but did not rule out the idea for the future.

Germany’s Euro 2024 squad faces a change with Pavlovic’s exit and Can’s inclusion, while the forward partnership of Wirtz and Musiala offers hope for the national team’s attacking prowess. As the tournament kicks off, all eyes will be on these players to deliver strong performances and help Germany achieve success on the international stage.
