Galatasaray Eyes Anthony Martial but Faces Salary Demands

Galatasaray is reportedly in pursuit of Anthony Martial as a potential free transfer. The former Manchester United striker is now a free agent after spending nine years at Old Trafford. Despite Galatasaray’s interest, it seems that Martial’s wage demands could be a stumbling block in securing the move.

According to a source from ESPN, Martial would need to lower his salary expectations in order to join the Turkish champions. The 28-year-old’s recent performance has been affected by injury setbacks, leading to limited playing time in the Premier League last season. With just 13 appearances in the league, Martial’s goal-scoring prowess has been subdued, with his last goal dating back to a match against Everton in November.

In the midst of Martial’s potential departure, Manchester United is in discussions with Jonny Evans and Tom Heaton regarding contract extensions. Evans, who played a significant role last season with 30 appearances across all competitions, could depart for free unless a new deal is reached. Similarly, Heaton, the third-choice goalkeeper, is also in talks with the club for a contract renewal.

Manchester United has offered a new contract to young forward Omari Forson, who made his senior debut last season. However, sources suggest that Forson might be leaving the club in the summer, which would entitle United to compensation if he moves to another team. Additionally, negotiations are ongoing with Shola Shoretire for a new contract.

Tom Huddlestone’s Departure

Former Tottenham and England midfielder Tom Huddlestone, who held an Under-21 player-coach role at Manchester United for two years, has confirmed his departure from the club. This signals a shift in the coaching staff dynamics at the club.

While Galatasaray’s interest in Anthony Martial presents an intriguing opportunity for both parties, the financial aspect remains a major consideration. With Manchester United navigating contract talks with current players and prospects, the club’s focus on team composition and future talent development is evident. As the transfer window progresses, it will be interesting to see how these negotiations unfold and shape the upcoming season for both clubs.
