Exploring Potential Naming Rights for Manchester United’s New Stadium

Snapdragon, the current shirt sponsor of Manchester United, has expressed interest in potentially purchasing the naming rights for the club’s new stadium. With the recent deal worth £180 million ($230m) between Snapdragon and United, the tech company is open to exploring this avenue to support the club’s stadium project.

Don McGuire, the chief marketing officer of Snapdragon’s parent company Qualcomm, emphasized the significance of maintaining the essence of Old Trafford while considering branding opportunities. McGuire mentioned the possibility of a “Snapdragon Stadium at Bashor Field” or a similar concept, highlighting the company’s dedication to innovation and technology at both Old Trafford and Carrington.

A source revealed that a task force within Manchester United has proposed the construction of a new 100,000-capacity stadium on land behind Old Trafford. This recommendation aligns with the vision of new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, emphasizing the club’s commitment to enhancing the matchday experience for supporters.

The club’s stadium project is projected to span over six years and cost more than £2 billion, prompting discussions around funding options. While selling naming rights is under consideration, Manchester United has assured fans that any decisions regarding the stadium’s future will involve extensive consultation with supporters.
