Chelsea Owner Backs Pochettino Amid Rumors About His Future

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has voiced his support for manager Mauricio Pochettino, praising the team’s recent run of form and playing style. After securing a 2-0 victory over Tottenham followed by a 5-0 win against West Ham, Chelsea remains in contention for European football next season.

Pochettino expressed his satisfaction with the team’s progress after the win against West Ham, calling it a “massive step” in their development. Boehly echoed these sentiments during a Sportico conference, highlighting the team’s performance in the last two and a half games as “beautiful football.” He emphasized the fluidity, organization, and goal-scoring opportunities that were created during this period.

Despite the positive feedback from both Pochettino and Boehly, questions still linger about the manager’s future at Chelsea. Pochettino himself has shrugged off inquiries about his tenure, stating that it is up to the club to decide whether they want him to continue. The Argentinian coach signed a two-year contract last summer with an option for an additional year, leaving his future uncertain.

Chelsea faced a rough start to the season but has shown significant improvement in recent months. With only one loss in their last 12 Premier League matches, Chelsea currently sits seventh in the standings, just two points behind Newcastle United. Pochettino led the team to the League Cup final in February and the FA Cup semifinals last month, showcasing the team’s progress under his guidance.

While Chelsea’s recent performances have been impressive and the team seems to be moving in the right direction, the uncertainty surrounding Pochettino’s future remains a looming question mark. As the season nears its end, it will be interesting to see whether Chelsea decides to extend Pochettino’s contract or pursue a different direction for the team.
