Chelsea Completes Permanent Signing of João Félix from Atlético Madrid

Chelsea Football Club has officially announced the signing of João Félix on a permanent transfer from Atlético Madrid. The forward has agreed to a six-year contract with the option to extend for an additional 12 months. According to sources, the clubs have settled on a deal valued at approximately €50 million, which includes add-ons. Atlético Madrid will also retain a 20% share of any future transfer fee generated by Félix if he moves away from Chelsea.

This signing marks a return to Chelsea for João Félix, who previously spent six months on loan at Stamford Bridge. During his loan spell, Félix managed to score four goals in 20 appearances for the London club. Expressing his excitement about returning to Chelsea, Félix stated, “I’m really happy to be back at Chelsea and I can’t wait to get started. I loved my time here before and I told my friends and family that I’d love to return to the Premier League one day. To do that with Chelsea is a great feeling and I’m excited to be back.”

João Félix spent last season on loan at Barcelona from Atlético Madrid, where he showcased his talent by scoring 10 goals in 44 appearances. Despite his hopes of continuing at Barça beyond that season, Félix returned to Atlético after representing Portugal at Euro 2024. The 24-year-old forward has now become Chelsea’s 11th signing of the summer transfer window, joining a list of new additions like Pedro Neto, Tosin Adarabioyo, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

Having started his professional career at Benfica, João Félix made a move to Atlético Madrid in 2019 for a club-record fee of €126 million. Throughout his time at Atlético, Félix scored a total of 34 goals in 131 games. Now, with his permanent transfer to Chelsea, the Portuguese forward is set to embark on a new chapter in his career in the Premier League.

Chelsea’s acquisition of João Félix is a significant move that adds depth and quality to their attacking options. As Félix reunites with familiar faces and looks forward to making an impact once again in the English top flight, fans of the Blues have reasons to be optimistic about what the talented forward can bring to the team.
