Barcelona in Advanced Talks to Sign Dani Olmo from Leipzig

Barcelona has reportedly reached an agreement in principle with Leipzig for the transfer of midfielder Dani Olmo to the LaLiga giants. According to a source authorized to speak for the Spanish club, the signing is pending final details and a physical examination set to take place on Thursday.

Barcelona’s sporting director Deco met with Leipzig representatives in hopes of finalizing the deal, which is said to be worth around €60 million ($65.6m). While the agreement is not yet finalized, Barcelona is willing to agree to Leipzig’s terms for the player as Olmo has emerged as their top target for this transfer window.

Dani Olmo, who previously began his career at Barcelona, has already agreed to personal terms with the club and is eager to return. The Spain international impressed during Euro 2024, scoring three goals and winning the Golden Boot while helping Spain emerge victorious in the tournament.

Barcelona’s pursuit of Olmo comes after their failed attempt to sign Athletic Club forward Nico Williams. The 26-year-old midfielder, whose contract with Leipzig runs until June 2027, has scored a total of 29 goals in his four seasons at the German club, showcasing his talent and potential.

As negotiations continue and the deal nears completion, Barcelona fans are hopeful that Dani Olmo’s arrival will bolster the team’s midfield and contribute to their success in the upcoming season. With personal terms agreed upon and the player’s desire to return to his former club, all eyes are on Barcelona as they look to secure the signing of this talented playmaker.
