Amadou Haidara, the RB Leipzig and Mali midfielder, has been progressively broadening the reach of his foundation’s off-season camps beyond the capital of Bamako. The primary goal is to scout for talented individuals who can benefit from his upcoming academy project in the capital city. Despite being born and raised in Bamako, Haidara’s roots extend to Kéla, a village situated two hours away. Through his foundation, which was established in 2021, Haidara has already been instrumental in the establishment of a medical facility in Kéla, demonstrating his commitment to giving back to his community and beyond.
Reflecting on his own journey in football, Haidara acknowledges the challenges faced by aspiring players who do not have access to the same opportunities as those in the capital city. His main objective in launching the foundation was to provide a platform for young talents in Mali to showcase their skills and pursue their passion for the sport. “The main motivation for starting my foundation was to help young children in Mali to show themselves – to have a chance to play football, because not everyone has a chance, like I did, to play in a bigger academy,” Haidara shared. Through his annual camps, funded with his own resources, he aims to discover and nurture the next generation of football stars in Mali.
Haidara’s own rise to prominence in the football world was far from easy, but he found a launching pad at the JMG Academy in Mali. His performances caught the eye of Red Bull Salzburg, where he began his professional career before making a move to RB Leipzig. Since then, Haidara has established himself as a key player in the Bundesliga and has even graced the stage of the UEFA Champions League. While rumors of a potential move to the Premier League have surfaced, Haidara remains focused on his current club and the goals he has set for himself, including winning titles and representing Mali on the world stage.
Building a Legacy for Future Generations
In addition to his on-field achievements, Haidara is deeply invested in giving back to his community and country through his foundation and academy projects. By reaching out to areas beyond Bamako and providing opportunities for both boys and girls to participate in his camps, Haidara is ensuring that no child is left behind in the pursuit of their football dreams. With the support of partners like Orange Mali, Haidara’s initiatives are gaining momentum and recognition both locally and internationally.
Looking Ahead
As Haidara prepares for the upcoming season with RB Leipzig, he remains focused on his immediate goals, including competing in the Bundesliga, the DFB-Pokal, and the Champions League. While he acknowledges the unpredictability of the football world, Haidara is committed to giving his all for Leipzig and Mali. His dedication to empowering the youth of his country and nurturing the next generation of football talent is a testament to his passion for the game and his desire to create a lasting impact beyond the pitch.
