The Latest Buzz in the Summer Transfer Window

Arsenal is reportedly in talks to complete the signing of Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino. The 28-year-old is said to be valued at more than €25 million, with negotiations ongoing between the two clubs. Merino’s decision to prioritize a move to the Emirates Stadium has reportedly been communicated to Atlético Madrid and Barcelona. The Spain international had an impressive season in LaLiga, scoring five goals and assisting three in 32 matches. In addition to Merino, Liverpool is also allegedly interested in another Erreala midfielder, Martín Zubimendi.

Bayern Munich is reportedly willing to sell left-back Alphonso Davies to Real Madrid for €30 million. Despite interest from the Spanish Giants, the Bundesliga side has lowered their valuation of the 23-year-old. Davies has entered the final year of his contract, which has prompted Bayern to consider offloading him this summer.

Free agent goalkeeper David de Gea is on the verge of signing a one-year contract with Fiorentina. The 33-year-old has been without a club since leaving Manchester United in 2023. The deal reportedly includes an option to extend his contract for an additional year based on certain conditions. De Gea is expected to undergo a medical before finalizing the move to the Serie A club.

Manchester United is still hopeful of securing Brentford striker Ivan Toney before the end of the transfer window. Toney, who is in the final year of his contract with the Bees, is rumored to be available for a transfer fee of £40 million. The striker has also attracted interest from Tottenham Hotspur, making the race for his signature more competitive.

West Ham United is looking to hijack Juventus’ proposed move for Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo. The Hammers have reportedly agreed to a €40 million deal with the Ligue 1 club, which includes a future transfer percentage. The club’s director has traveled to France to negotiate the deal, with Todibo’s medical scheduled for Friday. The relationship between Todibo’s representatives and the club, who also manage former player Xabi Alonso, has reportedly played a role in the negotiations. It remains unclear whether West Ham will meet the full €60 million release clause for Todibo or attempt to negotiate a lower fee.
