Manchester City Signs Brazilian Winger Sávio

Manchester City has officially welcomed 20-year-old Brazilian winger Sávio to their team on a five-year deal. The club confirmed the completion of the deal on Thursday. The transfer involved an initial fee of €25 million ($27.3m), with the potential for additional €15m ($16.4m) in add-ons. Sávio’s journey to Manchester City included stints at French side Troyes, as well as loan spells at PSV Eindhoven and Girona, both of which are part of the City Football Group (CFG), led by Manchester City.

Expressing his enthusiasm about joining the Premier League champions and Club World Cup winners, Sávio stated, “Everyone knows they are the best team in the world right now, so to be here is very exciting for me.” He also highlighted his eagerness to work under the tutelage of Pep Guardiola, whom he described as “one of the greatest coaches ever.” Sávio’s positive outlook extends to his anticipation of playing in the Premier League, alongside some of the top players globally, emphasizing his goal to contribute to City’s continued success.

During his time at Girona, Sávio showcased his prowess by scoring 11 goals in 41 games, aiding the team in securing qualification for the Champions League for the first time in their history. His impressive performance also earned him a spot on the Brazilian national team for this year’s Copa América, where he scored a goal in each of the four matches he played until their elimination by Uruguay in the quarterfinals.
