Manchester United are nearing a deal with Bologna to sign striker Joshua Zirkzee. The Red Devils have resolved payment issues with Zirkzee’s representatives and are now working on finalizing a deal with the Italian club. Zirkzee, who has a release clause of £34 million, has also attracted interest from AC Milan. The 23-year-old has been a standout performer for Bologna, scoring 12 goals last season as they secured a Champions League spot for the first time in the modern era.
After considering other options like Jonathan David and Ivan Toney, Zirkzee has emerged as Manchester United’s top striker target. The club is also in talks with Bayern Munich for Zirkzee’s international teammate, Matthijs de Ligt. United’s priority this summer is to bolster their attacking options, with a striker being the main focus.
In addition to a striker, Manchester United are looking to strengthen their defense. The club has already had a bid rejected for Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite and is now in negotiations with Bayern Munich for de Ligt. The German side values the defender at over £40 million, but United are determined to secure his services.
Midfield Departures
Midfielder Donny van de Beek is set to depart Manchester United for Girona in a permanent deal worth around £420,000. Van de Beek, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt, is moving on after a disappointing spell at Old Trafford. United signed the Dutch midfielder in a £40 million deal in 2020, but he has failed to make an impact.
