Nashville SC recently announced the hiring of B.J. Callaghan, who previously served as the United States men’s national team assistant coach. Callaghan, aged 43, will officially take over as the new manager on July 22, just in time for Nashville’s Leagues Cup match against Mazatlán F.C. on July 31. Having worked under U.S. manager Gregg Berhalter for the last five years, Callaghan brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the MLS club.
During his time with the USMNT, Callaghan had the opportunity to step in as the interim manager before Berhalter’s return in June 2023. Under his leadership, the team clinched the 2023 Concacaf Nations League title and even guided a predominantly reserve squad to the semifinals of the 2023 Gold Cup. Despite facing challenges, Callaghan was able to maintain a record of 4-0-3 during his tenure.

He later transitioned to join Jim Curtin’s coaching staff in 2014, showcasing his dedication and expertise in player development. Callaghan’s background also includes assistant coaching positions at Ursinus College, Saint Joseph’s University, and Villanova University, as well as youth coaching roles in the Philadelphia area.
